FLORA –– Tri-Central’s high school boys soccer team was shut out 6-0 by Carroll
in last Thursday’s Hoosier Heartland Conference action.
Carroll scored four goals in the first half. The first came with 37:27 showing
on the clock, and the fourth came with 10:24 remaining in the half.
The Cougars then scored 51 seconds into the second half. Their final goal came
with 22:02 remaining in the game.
Carroll outshot Tri-Central 21-13 for the game. TC had seven shots in the first
half. Carroll had 10 shots on goal in the first half.
Caleb Palmer recorded 8 saves for the Trojans, who dropped to 0-3 on the season
and 0-1 in conference play.
“Although the game resulted in a 6-0 loss, we showed signs of coming together as
a team to play an entire game and work together to achieve results,” Tri-Central
Coach David Mast said. “The defense had to work hard against an aggressive
Carroll offense.
“Caleb Palmer did well in goal with 8 saves and Justin **** at sweeper and Scott
McCorkle at fullback turned in very good performances.
“Several times we had our momentum stopped by the Carroll defense. We need to
really work on winning the 50/50 balls, ball control, and a good first touch.

“We are a young team (starting 7 sophomores and freshmen) but things are
starting to come together,” Mast finished.
The Trojans will entertain Tipton on Tuesday. The Blue Devils are 0-3 on the
season as well, following Saturday’s Hoosier Conference defeat at Twin Lakes.
