Staff Report
Lafayette Central
Catholic has long been the big dog in Hoosier heartland football. In fact, so
far this season they are the big dog in 1A football anywhere in Indiana. The
Knights are currently ranked #1 in that class. It is only fitting then, that
LCC drew by far the toughest test of any conference team in the first round of
the upcoming sectional tournaments. The rest of the HHC has a rather pedestrian
draw. Meanwhile, LCC drew #2 Pioneer in a game many people think could decide
the state champion, let alone the sectional champ. The game will be played in
Lafayette.
Elsewhere in
the HHC, Clinton Prairie will host the Indiana School for the Deaf in opening
round action while Tri-Central will travel to Clinton Central. These two games
are in Sectional 37. The key to this draw is that Clinton Central could not see
Sheridan until a possible showdown in the final. That is important because this
is the year that the Bulldogs would be favored over the legendary Blackhawk program.
Finally,
Carroll will travel to South Newton in the other bracket of the same sectional
featuring the premiere contest involving Central Catholic.
