Things began
to heat up for Hoosier heartland Conference teams in week two of the season.
Tournament action led to some success for two conference squads.
Carroll had
perhaps the busiest week of all. The Cougars opened the season Tuesday evening
dropping a 41-32 decision to neighboring Western. No fear, the Cougars bounced
back to claim a tourney title on Saturday with a 47-37 victory over North
Newton and then edging Tri-County at night by a 38-36 count.
Lafayette
Central catholic reached the finals of the Lafayette J&C Hoops Classic.
There is good and bad news in that. The Knights downed Twin Lakes 53-48 and
West Lafayette 52-46 to reach the finals. Once there, they were throttled by
McCutcheon 81-36. It left LCC 2-2 on the campaign.
Clinton
Central opened the season with a 63-24 pasting of Covington. Meanwhile Clinton
Prairie dismantled faith Christian 49-43.
However, the Lady gophers fell to Delphi 40-29 on Saturday evening.
Rossville
also split a pair of games. The Hornets lost during the week to an up and
coming Eastern team 37-26, but rebounded to down Attica 53-37 on Saturday.
Tri-Central flexed a little muscle. The Lady Trojans thumped Sheridan 53-37.
That came after falling in a thriller to 2A #5 Taylor 59-55 earlier in the
week.
